Side Walk Sell

I would be so ashamed to be the pharmacist that worked at this pharmacy, LOL!

Clay and I are still waiting on information for the house. It's completely frustrating, and we are almost at the point where we just want to say forget it. It's just the waiting that is so infuriating. It's all a bunch of stuff that I don't 100% understand, but from what I can gather the insurance on the mortgage is looking more in-depth into our application because we don't have "traditional" lines of credit (credit cards, car loans, water bill, etc.). At this point, I'm being optimistic because I can't imagine they would take this much time just to deny us, but Clay is the downer debbie today. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring some kind of news. Anything please!

I'm presenting my first journal club presentation tomorrow with my group. Then, in the afternoon, I have my final session at the VA hospital. We are doing a Jeopardy game with one of the other applied therapeutics groups there. I hope we do well, and it's not completely embarrassing. The good news is that after that, I'm done with all "out-of-class" activities, which means that I only have to go to lectures until finals in December. Yay!

Scrabble Slam!

So, Clay and I bought a new, fun game...scrabble slam! It's really a neat game, especially for two people, which is mainly how it is with me and Clay. I usually have to force Clay to play games with me, and he usually wins too :( Scrabble slam is a card game where you spell a four letter word, divide the rest of the cards, then you shout, "Ready, Set, Slam." This is when there is a mad dash to put down as many cards as you can to spell different four letter words by replacing one letter in the word at a time. I'm probably making it seem confusing, but it really is fun. I like playing this game with Clay better than regular scrabble because I'm just not very strategic. Whenever we play regular scrabble, I try to make really unique good words. Whereas Clay tries to make it to the triple scores and use all of the Q, Z, X, etc. At least I have a chance with Scrabble Slam.

This was our first game, and Clay actually won by spelling the word lose. (ignore our dirty carpets!)

Of course, Little Mister wanted to play!

Who knew Mister was a sore loser?

I love my husband...

Our Little Patient

Little Mister
We woke up this morning and Little Mister was not feeling good. He was sulking around and not acting as his normal self. Usually he acts like a little boy: rambunctious, playful, energetic, but this morning he wasn't excited at all about going on his walk or getting treats. He wouldn't sit still or lay down. I felt so bad for him. So, I had to take him to the vet. It turns out he had hookworms, and we got a stern talking to about heartworm (and hookworm) prevention. I finally got him home, and he was excited when Clay called to talk to him. He told him he was proud of him for being so brave at the vet's office. I promised Mister we'd be better parents to him from here on out.

Feeling much better this afternoon!

Clay thinks he looks professional in his polo shirt:

He likes having his own sunroof he can hang out of in the car.

House News
We have officially postponed closing until next Thursday because of Veteran's day. I think both Clay and I are frustrated because it feels like things just keep getting overlooked at our mortgage guy's office. He just keeps calling us with different things that seem like they could have been taken care of weeks ago. Clay was kind of mean with him yesterday because we have to close in Nashville, and it's not easy to reschedule your work week and time off.

No more midterms!
I've also taken my last midterm...EVER! Woo hoo! I still have my last round of finals in December, but other than that I have no more tests. This one was over psych conditions: Alzheimer's, Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia, Autism, Eating Disorders, and Seizures. I would have to say that besides cardiology, this was my favorite section. I'm excited for my mental health rotation next May.

Well, Mister is looking at me with eyes that say, "Please come rub my belly!" I can't ignore that face...

So, we thought it would be a good idea to write about our lives considering we don't really live near anyone. It's a good way to keep up with everyone, and let you know what's going on with us.

House News
First, we are both completely stressed out about buying a house. I like buying things at Target much better. Also, who knew that actually paying off cars and not having credit cards and other bills could be a bad thing when buying a house? Right now, we're suffering from a lack of credit debt. If everything works out, which at this point we're not really sure will happen, then we are going to be closing next Thursday, November 12th. This means everyone is invited over on Saturday to help us paint :).

Here are some pictures of the house:

So, I hope we do get this house because Clay and I have already made tons of plans on what we would like to do. It's very exciting to be able to PAINT walls and make permanent changes. I'm really just excited to have grass and a yard and possibly bring Spec there one day. We will eventually put a fence up for him.

Travelin' Man
Clay is currently visiting family in Ohio and Kentucky, and I miss him terribly. He will have been gone 6 days and 5 nights by the time he comes back. I suppose it is a good trial for our impending separation. He will have to stay in Memphis for a few months before being able to transfer to the Cintas in Nashville. We're hoping he'll make it by March at the latest. I'm sure I'll be busy doing rotations, and he's going to come on the weekends. I'll still miss him, but I'm not so sure I'll miss his mess. Who ever knew one man could make such a mess?

Halloween
We had a good time this Halloween. We spent it with friends from church at Ben and Monica's place. They had such fun games for us. We all dressed up. Clay went as God's gift to women, and I went as God's apology letter to women. We played Halloween Horror movie pictures, guess the candy in the jar, best costume contest, and they had a fun program that distorted faces called Frank-N-Face where the ugliest face won. Alana took one picture and won that contest! I also made a neat cake. I was quite proud of it.

In Other News...
I have recently rediscovered a television show I used to watch. It's on the gospel music network. Did you even know there was such a station? Anyways, it's called Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Clay makes fun of me for watching it, and teases me by calling me Dr. Katie, Medicine Woman. I would say that my shows are much better then the ridiculous reality shows he watches on Bravo: Real Housewives, Flipping Out, Millionaire Listings, etc.
